WOW Shaman
Guide
Introduction When you are playing as a shaman, the main thing that you are going to
have to worry about is the casting ability that you have. In fact, if you are someone that generally does not
like to play as a caster, do not play as a shaman. That might sound a bit harsh, but it is nevertheless quite
true.
Shamans are relatively mechanical in terms of your strategy. You use elemental attacks against your enemies and
healing spells on your friends. If you can’t do that well, you should not be playing a shaman. It is as simple as
that.

The Advantages and Minor Disadvantages As previously mentioned, the casting ability is
really the bread and butter of the shaman. When you come into the game as a shaman, you are going to have the
ability to deal some impressive casting damage through the use of elemental attacks. At the same time though, you
can protect and heal your compatriots through the use of different spells under the same casting abilities. This
does not mean that casting is the only advantage to being a shaman however, as the truth is far from that. You can
also go into combat with two-handed melee weapons and inflict some serious damage when your casting abilities run
out. Overall, that essentially means that shamans can give as good as they get in any situation when they are used
properly by the people that are playing them.
Because of this, looking at the shaman as being a true hybrid class is certainly one way to think about it. That
means that shamans are basically decent at everything that you could do in the game without being great at anything
you could do in the game. For this reason, they are arguably more of a hybrid class than the Paladin which has the
ability to soak up tons of damage and is really underpowered when it comes to mobility. If you need a secondary
character for any particular role in your party, chances are very good that the shaman has the ability to fulfill
this role.
Race Selection Race selection with a shaman is not really that easy to do. That having been
said, there are some choices that are clear above the others in terms of suitability. For the alliance, Draenei is
the only racial selection you can make. The Draenei can heal themselves and have a passive buff on their to hit
score. Those are both good in combination with the shaman class.
For the Horde, the Orc Shaman is definitely a good idea for anyone that wants to make a career out of fighting
other players. If you want a decent shaman for fighting enemies and are not really interested in fighting other
players, trolls are a good choice because of passive benefits and no drawbacks.
A secondary racial choice for shamans in the Horde could also be the tauren, although in recent iterations of
the game their abilities have become less useful with shaman. Ultimately, the choice is yours as to whether you’d
like to play them. If you do play them, you will get access to higher HP at the start and of course the War
Stomping ability that can be loads of fun at times.
