WOW Fishing
Guide
Fishing is an interesting choice when it comes to learning a profession in WOW for the simple
reason that it has a bit of a dual nature when it comes to actually pursuing the fishing strategy.
On the one hand, you are going to need to catch thousands of fish in order to develop this skill proficiency to the
450 level. On the other hand, you will get skill points at the same rate no matter where you actually catch the
fish, giving you a unique advantage when it comes to actually doing the business of gaining the skill points needed
to make fishing a good part of your overall strategy.

The first thing that you need to do when it comes to dealing with fishing is purchase a fishing pole. You can do
this from any of the trainers that live in Old Azeroth, although you need to make a note of where you got the pole
when you actually purchase it. The reason is that when your fishing skill reaches the milestones of 75, 150 and
225, you want to come back to your trainer. So make a note of where your trainer is, purchase the fishing pole from
one of the suppliers and then go fish. It’s actually really that simple because fishing is not a particularly
mind-boggling strategy to pursue from the point of view of detail.
There are many places around that would get arguments by different people as to being the best place to fish.
Without making too much of a big deal out of this debate, the easiest place to fish is probably the Wailing
Caverns. The main reason for this is that if you fish there, you can stay in the same pool. Some of the other
places require you to actually move between different pools in order to locate the fish school, something that can
get very annoying very fast for a player that is just starting out.
When you reach a skill proficiency of 300 in fishing, you are going to want to start changing things around so
that you don’t spend the rest of your life gaining those last 150 levels. Purchase a better fishing pole. You want
one that provides at least a +5 strong bonus, although the best one that you can get along these lines is obviously
the one that is recommended. You also want to purchase better lures like the bright baubles lure that gives you a
+75 bonus. Once again though, consider this the minimum suggestion on this guide and try to get something better if
at all possible.
Now that you have the better gear, it is time to travel. You can’t get higher than 300 in your fishing skill
unless you get a mastery of fishing. You can get it in Warsong Hold or in Valiance Keep depending on your
affiliation. The main reason that you need the better gear is that junk fish will be caught a lot. Good gear will
allow you to overcome that problem a lot quicker. In the end, you can then parlay your new mastery and the better
gear into a much better fishing skill when all is said and done. Just make sure to go back to your trainer once you
get to level 375 in fishing.
