WoW Warlock
Guide
When you start off as a warlock in World of WarCraft, you are essentially deciding to go the
route of the demon. You are going to cast spells that are demonic in origin and produce rituals along the same
lines. You will also deal damage over the course of time, something that is different from a mage.
The main strengths that a warlock will bring to the table are as follows. They have great survival chances and
have access to a drain life spell that allows them to steal HP from other players. They also get normal and epic
mounts for free if the mounts are ground mounts. Lifetap allows them to get mana back quickly by sacrificing life,
something that can be used synergistically with drain life and/or siphon.

On the other hand, warlocks have some weaknesses that you should be aware of. For starters, warlocks are usually
not required in numbers greater than one on most raids. In addition to that, warlocks are terrible when it comes to
fighting melee. They have low physical damage and of course the out of game mechanics for managing a large
spellbook are also difficult in just about any game that has ever been created.
As with any class, the best strategy to pursue with a warlock is one that maximizes the strengths and minimizes
the weaknesses. That means that you want to always be at a range from your target if at all possible, using your
mount to get to a far range if they try to close. Don’t be afraid to use lifetap to get your mana back through your
HP because you can then use drain life or siphon immediately afterwards in order to gain life back. If you follow
this strategy basically and then add other elements in as you become comfortable with them, you should be fine when
it comes to using your warlock character.
The first thing that you need to decide after you have chosen your warlock class is what race you would like to
combine with that class. The gnome is a particularly interesting choice since you have higher intelligence and a
passive 5% bonus on intelligence when you are playing as a warlock. You also have access to Escape Artist, a skill
that can come in very handy for warlocks. Humans are decent for just about any class because of their overall
roundedness, but they have a swords bonus with a warlock that is basically useless. Still, they have stealth
tracking abilities and 5% spirit bonuses, so they are still worth using if you really want to play a human
character.
For the original WOW package, the Horde does not offer that much in the way of a good warlock race. Orcs are not
that great for warlocks because they have no bonuses for warlock. Of course, they have no drawbacks either, so it’s
not like they’re absolutely terrible. If you want to play a warlock though, you should definitely consider the
Forsaken Undead or the Blood Elves from Burning Crusade. Both of those have racial bonuses that are far more
conducive to playing a warlock than the other races in question.
